Where is your neighborhood going?...

Sounding Sessions: A Tale of Two Neighborhoods

Join us on either Tuesday February 23rd (TONIGHT!!) or Wednesday February 24th (TOMORROW!!) for an interactive conversation regarding Community Revitalization between several experts and the GBC community.  We will be meeting in Walnut Hills at 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM for a great conversation about two local communities. Afterward, we will head to a local pub for some beverages and a chance to continue the conversation.  Soft drinks and light appetizers will be provided at the event as well. :)

The quality of life in a city is determined by the vitality of its neighborhoods. What can individuals do to revitalize a community? What can the community do for itself? Oakley has gone through a community transformation and Walnut Hills is currently on the move towards transformation. Come discuss the milestones critical for success and what you can do to get engaged. Please RSVP below.

Registration is open - RSVP & Join us!!

Give Back at the Theater:

On Saturday March 13th at 2:00 pm, GBC is going to attend Broadway's longest running comedy, Alfred Hitchcock's "The 39 Steps". It is an excellent opportunity to meet and mingle with many of the GBC members... Mix a Hitchcock masterpiece with a juicy spy novel, add a dash of Monty Python and you have...(mystery chords!) THE 39 STEPS, Broadway's most intriguing, most thrilling, most riotous comedy smash! The mind-blowing cast of 4 plays over 150 characters in this fast-paced tale of an ordinary man on an extraordinarily entertaining adventure. Tickets are $30 each thanks to the efforts of our social committee.

After the play,  all are encouraged to make their way over to "FB's" for a chance to mingle with fellow Give Back folks.  Attire for the event will be "dressy casual/business casual."  All are encouraged to purchase their tickets in advance by following the link below as the event is due to sell out.  We look forward to seeing you at the theater!!

Young at Heart:

More than 60 volunteers joined Give Back Cincinnati at St. Paul's Retirement Village this past Saturday.  Over 20+ games of  bingo played; lots of stomachs filled with ice cream, popcorn, and cookies as well as many days made by the smiling faces of our volunteers.  Special thanks to Wanda Patterson of St. Paul's, Kroger, P&G, Alpine Valley, L'Oreal, Noodle's & Co.   The day was a rousing success and again Give Back has much to be proud about with an extremely well organized and enjoyable event.  Thank you to all who contributed, planned, attended and made the day so special.

For those of you who enjoyed your time volunteering today and just can’t get enough of St. Paul’s Village, there are plenty of opportunities to give back on a regular basis:

1) Can you recite the alphabet (or at least B-I-N-G-O) and enjoy numbers? If so, every Tuesday & Sunday evening at 6:30pm St. Paul’s needs individuals to call Bingo—keep in mind St. Paul’s prefers individuals who can commit regularly to this weekly event.

2) Bring on the holidays! St. Paul’s occasionally needs help for holiday events put on by the activities committee, i.e. Memorial Day cook-out, Labor Day cook-out, and the Valentine’s Day dinner dance. Work includes serving food and hanging out with the residents.

Anyone interested in these opportunities should contact Wanda (St. Paul’s Activities Director) for more information—513-272-1118. She’d love to have you on her team!

Pictures from the event will be up soon as well.  Thanks.

On the Horizon....

Opening Day on the Square - April 5: A tradition within a tradition.  Opening Day for the Cincinnati Reds is start of summer here in Cincinnati.  Join us on the square before, during, or after the game for food or a drink.

Community Immersion - April 10: An immersion into a local neighborhood that you might only know about or have driven through.  What local shops are there? What groups and businesses call this area home? What Cincinnati history comes from this area??? A walking tour of one of Cinci's 52.

Blazing Trails -  April 24th:    Join us in Devou Park (Covington/Ludlow KY) for a day of blazing mountain bike & hiking trails through the woods.  This is a day of physically demanding work out in the wilderness followed by a hearty lunch and beverages.  Life is good...
