Meet GBC's Social Director ...

John Perkins VII

Background:

I was born at an early age in Houston, Texas. I moved to Louisville when I was 8, Lexington when I was 18, and Cincinnati when I was the ripe old age of 22. I've now been in Cincinnati 7 years. I like Cincinnati & plan to stay. My degree is in Civil Engineering from UK. I moved here for, and continue to work for, Messer Construction. My first Give Back Event was Young at Heart in Feb. '07, but I didn't get entrenched with GBC until Paint the Town in College Hill & the New Orleans Katrina Trip. After the Katrina Trip, I was hooked and I plan to stay that way for a long time to come.

Job Duties:

I plan the Fun Stuff. Volunteering is fun, but it's important to connect our members socially & professionally. So I make sure there's a social aspect after every event. I also plan the Give Back Challenge & Holiday Party. The Give Back Challenge is a Fun/challenging/team building event & the Holiday Party is where we let our hair down and celebrate the success of all our hard work.

What Give Back Means To MeMe

GBC accomplishes more for the city than any other organization. It pulls together the brightest YP minds in Cincinnati and achieves amazing results. You can literally See the city change around us. Beyond our accomplishments, we act as a springboard for other organizations in the city. Whether its organizations that "sprout" from GBC or in the partnerships that we make with other local charities.

Fun Fact

I am John Douglas Perkins VII. My father, grandfather, great grandfather, I think you get the point, all had the same name, John Douglas Perkins.
