What do you want to do with Give Back Cincinnati??...
Blazing Trails
Saturday April 24th - 8:15 AM to 1:30 PM
Want to get your
Spring off to a BLAZING start?
Join Give Back Cincinnati as we partner
with Cincinnati Off Road Alliance (CORA)
and get down and dirty in Devou Park.
Search for those old hiking shoes, grab
that old pair of jeans, and find that
favorite work shirt, as we gear up to
build some trails!
We had such a great
time working with CORA last year as we
took on an entirely new type of event;
we decided to head back for some more
fun. This event will be unlike any of
Give Back Cincinnati’s other events this
year, are you prepared? What better way
to form a bond with new friends than
doing some hard work?
The work will be
challenging, demanding, extremely
physical, and by the end of the day
you’ll probably let out a few sighs of
exhaustion. There is a 30-minute hike
to the work site. Once you arrive to
the work site you can expect to be
digging, tearing out honeysuckle, and
other types of landscaping. No worries
though, your hard work will be rewarded
with an exciting after party!
The after party
will start around 1:30. We will hike
back down around 1:00 to a nice cookout
at the base of the mountain. There will
be games, including a cornhole
tournament, with door prizes, consisting
of zoo passes and gift cards. So don’t
leave once the work is finished. Stay
and enjoy a relaxing, fun party to
celebrate our accomplishments as well as
socialize with fellow GBC members.
If you like hiking
and working in your yard, why not take
both to the
EXTREME with Give Back
Cincinnati? Join Give Back Cincinnati
on Saturday, April 24th as we
help CORA complete the trail in Northern
Kentucky at Devou Park. All of your
help will do more than build trails; it
will increase attendance at the park,
and bring more people into the
surrounding communities. Breakfast and
lunch will be provided to keep you
fueled during the day, and a relaxing
after party will be immediately follow
the event. We hope to see you out on
the trails as we switch gears from our
normal events, and take it to the
extreme!
Registration will begin at 8:15.
The hike up the mountain will begin once
the majority of volunteers have signed
in.
REGISTRATION IS OPEN for Blazing Trails!!!
Members' Choice
Throughout the
year, the leadership of Give Back
Cincinnati creates, plans, and
executes 30+ events from Hands-on to
social gatherings... now it is
YOUR turn to have
a direct say in what we do. Members' Choice is
a hands-on event that is created by
the membership and then voted on by
the entire membership at large.
Where do you think
we should go? What should we do? Who
should we help? What types of
hands-on events do you want to do?
(painting, landscaping, street
cleanup, trail building...)
The sky is the
limit on ideas. If you have a
phenomenal idea, but are not sure
about the logistics, let us worry
about it. We are looking for every
idea we can get!! We will then have
our Hands-on Committee process all
the ideas and choose a top ten based
on feasibility, logistics and such.
These folks are the experts as they
have been leading us all year.
So what do
you need to do now??
Follow the link
below and tell us about your idea in
our survey. Please include as much
as you can about your concept. If
you do not know all the details, do
not fret, however the more you can
provide the better.
Thank you for your
passion for Give Back Cincinnati.
Without new ideas, enthusiasm, and
your passion we would not be in our
10th year with more than 5000
members.

Community Immersion - Walnut Hills
More than 50 people gathered in
Walnut Hills for a walking tour to
discover the hidden gems of the
neighborhood. During the morning, we
teamed up with the kids from the Camp
Ernst Club to visit the library, the
Easter Seals Work Resource Center and
Giminetti Bakery. We then moved onto the
lot behind the Harriett Beecher Stowe
house to work together on a one-hour
cleanup project that resulted in an
overflowing dumpster and numerous bags
of trash and recyclable items. Noodles &
Company provided a delicious lunch that
we enjoyed on the front lawn of the
Harriett Beecher Stowe house and after
lunch, we headed to the Geiger House.
From there, we visited the Monastery
recording studio which provided us with
a free CD of songs recorded and we
finished the tour with an interactive
experience at Amphora studios, as
everyone was able to practice throwing
clay on a potter’s wheel. The day ended
with block party in the courtyard of the
Verona apartments on Park Avenue.
Attendees, residents and small business
owners from the community gathered
together for a grill out, corn hole and
a beautiful day.
Thank you to
Noodles & Company for providing lunch
and for Alpine Valley for providing
water. Also, thank you to our brilliant
guides Steve Carr and Greg Loomis who
lead us on an incredible and
informational tour. Thank you also to
the kids from the Camp Ernst Club who
were excellent company for our morning
activities. A final and heartfelt thank
you to all the businesses and
organizations that opened their doors to
us for the day and opened our minds to
all Walnut Hills has to offer!

Give Back Cincinnati and
Know Theatre of Cincinnati are pleased to
announce a new partnership. Both Know and GBC
believe strongly in fostering growth of our
community so we've teamed up to see what we can
accomplish together.
Both Give Back and Know Theatre have always
been a pivotal members of the Cincinnati
community hoping and helping to improve the
place we all live, work, and play. Our two
organizations have been informally "partnered"
through the years, but now we hope that by
increasing the visibility of our connection by
making our collaboration a little more formal.
In addition to the overlap in our core
stakeholders, we hope to each leverage the
other's assets to grow stronger and continue our
missions.
Eric Vosmeier of Know Theatre says, “Know
Theatre has always strived to be an integral
member of the OTR community, but as is the case
with many non-profits, we become insular over
the years. My hope is that through our
partnership with GBC, we will be able to
participate in, help publicize, and provide
support for some of the service projects they
perform. We believe in this place and we
believe that only together will we be
able shape it and improve it."
Matthew Lafkas from GBC continues, "The
partnership between our organizations is just
starting, but we have high hopes for it. Know
Theatre has offered their space as our home base
of sorts, offering a place for meetings,
gatherings and social events, info sessions,
etc. We look forward to sharing resources and
growing together. We are very exited about this
partnership and believe our membership will be
equally excited."
For
more information about Know Theatre of
Cincinnati check out their website at
www.knowtheatre.com. A few weeks ago they
