Make history by helping to restore the Emery Theater ...

Save the date and save the Emery Theater on May 31st!

The Emery theater at the corner of Central Parkway and Walnut was built in 1911 and is a half-scale Music Hall.  Although it housed the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra many years ago, it has been unused for over a decade.  As part of a larger effort to renovate and re-open the
theater, Give Back Cincinnati will be giving the theater a much needed cleaning and painting.  Save the date of May 31st for the opportunity to do a fun project in a piece of Cincinnati history.  Click here for more information: http://www.givebackcincinnati.org/v3/events_details.asp?EventID=1257 Registration will open next week, so check your calendar and see if you can join us for this exciting project!

FACTS ABOUT THE EMERY THEATER ... HELP MAKE HISTORY MAY 31st!

Did you know ...

That the theater has been part of the University of Cincinnati since 1968?

That the theater's acoustics are ranked among the world's best? Only Carnegie Hall and Symphony Hall were better.

That Mrs. Mary Emery, known philanthropist, donated all of the funds for the school and theater complex? Mrs. Emery also developed the suburb of Mariemont.

That on the roof there was a greenhouse where fruits and vegetables were grown for use in student lunches? This roof also provided a location for parties of more than 1,000 students and for tennis and hand-ball courts.

DO NOT MISS THIS EVENT!
