Rivertown Breakdown

Last Summer, GBC helped the P.A. Denny River Education Center during the All Hands on Deck event.  We painted and helped get the boat in ship shape order.  Since we were there, the ship has encountered a major need for repairs to its hull.  If the repairs are not made, the ship will be permanently docked.

One piece of good news – Jake Speed, who organizes The Annual Rivertown Breakdown (www.rivertownbreakdown.com) has generously offered to donate the proceeds of that event to the hull repair!!

The 9th Rivertown Breakdown is June 5, 2010 at the Southgate House in Newport, KY! Bands representing all genres of American music raise money for the P.A. Denny River Education Center docked in Covington, KY. It's a great time for a great cause!! We hope that you can make it out to the event ($15 at the door) and make sure that the Denny will continue cruising the local waterways.

Give Back Cincinnati Calendar Summary:

Next week:

Saturday: Paint the Town Prep Day #3

Why Paint the Town?

Our community is a sum of its total, and our housing is a big part of that equation.

Our houses are our homes, a place that we share memories and grow in community with our neighbors.  Houses require a tremendous amount of upkeep and things like painting a house can be an overwhelming financial cost for many members of our community.

Painting a home can give a renewed sense of pride to the homeowner, improve the image of the neighborhood and serve as a catalyst for community improvement.

Through service we are able to provide an incredible team building experience for corporations to get out of the office and into the community, helping others.  This event also is a great way to introduce many new faces to the type of work Give Back does all year round in Cincinnati.

Vision

We come, we paint, we have fun.

Together we can achieve great things, painting a home for a community member is a great way to improve their lives, and serve others.  It is a simple way for groups to actively engage and enjoy serving.

Volunteers come out individually and connect with others dedicated to active community improvement.

One day can make a HUGE difference.
