Engage Yourself

Give Back Cincinnati's New Initiatives

Engage Yourself - New Programs

Minding Our Business

Community Conversations

Voices of the Future - Teen Leadership Conf.

 Hello [FN],

Engage Yourself. That's the emphasis of a new initiative by Give Back Cincinnati that we like to call civic engagement.

Apart from our traditional large scale, one-day events, civic engagement gives members the opportunity to get more deeply involved in an issue that impacts our city and give back on a more continuous basis.

In 2006, Give Back appointed its first civic engagement director and charged her with implementing three programs, generated from your responses to our annual survey. Director Laura Baverman and her 10 person committee have already rolled out one of these programs, Community Conversations, and are well on their way to starting two others by year's end.

Community Conversations

Community Conversations are a series of educational forums that not only provide knowledgeable, high profile speakers but also, real, interactive volunteer opportunities for participants inspired to make a difference. The next Community Conversation will be held in October and will focus on disability awareness.

Minding Our Business - Info Sessions

Minding Our Business, a small business mentoring program in partnership with Smart Money Community Services, is launching this month. Three information sessions for potential volunteers are planned for August 9, 15 and 20. Please RSVP today!

Voices of the Future - Teen Leadership Conference

"Voices of the future: a conference for youth on freedom," is a partnership between Give Back, the National Underground Freedom Center and UC. The annual youth conference draws close to 1,000 youth from around the city and this year, we'll provide the volunteers and assistance planning year-round service projects for the conference participants. Volunteer recruitment will begin late in August and September.

To learn more about the three programs, please click on the NEW 'Engage Yourself' tab on www.givebackcincinnati.org, or contact Laura Baverman at civic@givebackcincinnati.org. We appreciate your support as we launch this new series and hope that we can continue to provide you with rewarding and memorable volunteer experiences!
