Time for the Challenge!!

The Give Back Cincinnati Challenge

Feeling a little competitive?  Ready to show your non-painting skills off to the rest of Give Back?

Saturday July 31st will have an afternoon long event (12:30 to 5:00) for six member teams which will involve various competitions for your chance to be crowned the Give Back Cincinnati Champions of 2010!! We will be at the Sand Bar on Kellogg Ave for the event and you should wear clothing that you can be active in and possibly get wet.  This is the official Give Back Challenge... like all of our events, being prepared and excited for the event makes for a wonderful time.

  • Cornhole

  • Trivia by Last Call Trivia (many thanks to them!!)

  • Volleyball

  • Golf (not quite a full 18 so no equipment is necessary... we will provide)

  • Relay Races

  • Special Give Back Challenge T-shirts!!!

  • Trophies and prizes for the winners

  • Food provided at Pirates' Cove at the after party/awards ceremony

  • Water provided (hydration is a must for the grueling trivia)

  • Fun is guaranteed (by me... if you do not have fun you may submit a lack of fun reimbursement to Awesome at commuications@givebackcincinnati.org )

Registration is expected to fill up.  Spaces are limited so buy your ticket ASAP!! $5.00 reserves your spot.

You do not need your team lined up yet or a team at all as we can pair up teams day of.  Most folks will come solo and find team members and be paired up on site. In years past this has always been the case, hence do not miss this event simply because you do not have a team set up.

Register now for the Challenge!!!

Many thanks to Last Call Trivia in advance for all of their help!!

We should also note that our friends at Frequency 94.1 will be onsite playing some tunes and hanging out with us!! The official and famous on air personality, Lisa, will be there too!!

Members' Choice - Time to VOTE!!

We collected many great ideas over the past few months and narrowed the choices down to three events.  The process was not a simple one as each needs to accommodate 100+ volunteers, be hands-on, and feasible to be accomplished in our standard time frame (morning/early afternoon).

None the less... we have three great ideas!!  Check out the link below to review the ideas and vote for your favorite.  The event will occur on September 18th, so mark your calendars now and vote today with the enthusiasm you had voting for Votto.

 On the Horizon....

The Christian Moerlein Brewing Co. OTR Makeover -  August 21st:   Give Back Cincinnati has always found itself working in Over-the-Rhine at least once a year, now we have an entire event dedicated to the area this year!!  Many different projects are being planned throughout the entire community.  This will be a great event with something for everyone.

We have a wonderful title sponsor for this event and many local organizations have been helping us plan the various activities.  Keep Cincinnati Beautiful has a project for up that will change the curb appeal of boarded up buildings... Findlay Market has some urban gardening projects for us... The OTR Foundation even has some work lined up for us to help them with the historical buildings in the area and this is all just to name a few projects!!

We will open up registration in the coming weeks, but for now, get this on your calendar and get excited to spend a day in the great community of Over-the-Rhine.

Littering is wrong but you can make it “write”!

Think people who litter are rude and lazy?  You’re not alone. Keep Cincinnati Beautiful recently launched a new litter prevention campaign to remind residents just how unacceptable and inappropriate it is to litter.

The campaign, “Littering is Wrong Too” takes a unique and light hearted approach to get attention and be remembered. It links littering with wrongdoing, while also defining the personality of the litterer as a socially unaccepted jerk and vilifies the choice they make to litter.

The campaign Website, www.LitteringIsWrongToo.org is packed with ways to get involved. You can even come up with your own campaign ad by “writing your wrong”. Check out the site, submit and vote for your favorite “wrong”, pledge your support and share the campaign with your online networks.
