[FN],
Our fall lineup is better than the networks...

The Christian Moerlein Brewing Co. OTR Makeover

Saturday August 21st we are heading into Over-the-Rhine for a spectacular day of service and fun.  We will be working with...

  • Keep Cincinnati Beautiful for the Future Blooms project (giving life to abandoned buildings with a little paint and love),
  •  Findlay Market to provide aid with their urban gardening projects as well as some general beautification for the area around the market
  • The Brewery District with various projects!!!

We have a wonderful title sponsor for this event and this affords us some great chances to spread out over the area and then locate our after party at Findlay Market!  Many thanks to The Christian Moerlein Brewing Co. for their continued dedication to Give Back Cincinnati and Over-the-Rhine.

We will take care of all the details...

  • parking... free and safe inside a garage
  • transportation around OTR... we have buses ready to get you to work and back
  • food... as always, coffee, light breakfast, and a delicious lunch
  • work... we have a great deal of work to accomplish
  • a chance to make a difference...we are working with wonderful groups that have great causes.  each one is a little different than the others, but all great programs
  • fun... as with all give back events, we want you to work hard and then get a chance to mingle with fellow volunteers - we will have our after party at Findlay Market... obviously with Christian Moerlein ;)

Sign up today and we will be sending out all the details over the weekend.  We look forward to seeing you in Over-the-Rhine!!

Sounding Session #2 - Reduce, Reuse... Revealed!!

Cincinnati continues to push ahead in it's recycling efforts, in ways you may not yet be aware! Join us to learn about Cincinnati's continued dedication to enhance the city's sustainability, the current types of unique recycling available within city limits and how you can get involved!

For one evening on Tuesday September 21, from 6:30 to 8:30 PM, we will explore the various and plentiful ways that groups in our city are recycling.  As always, no fee- you will just need to register ASAP once the link opens up (hint...next week).  We will have refreshments and light snacks for you, but more importantly a power packed line up of speakers and groups for the evening.  Will be a great night, hope you will join us.

Members' Choice - YOU HAVE CHOSEN....

We collected many great ideas over the past few months and narrowed the choices down to three events.  You then voted and provided a clear answer as a super majority of votes collected were for one event.... Gorman Heritage Farm!!

We have begun our planning and we are truly excited to be working with and at the Gorman Farm in September.  Mark your calendars for Saturday September 18th to spend a day in nature as we work the farm, build some trails and maybe even spend some time in a sunflower garden.

 On the Horizon....

Paint the Street with the Fine Arts Fund-  Sunday September 26th:

The New York Times recently told the world about Cincinnati’s artsy swagger. Case-in-point: Last fall, people from across the region came together on Fountain Square to celebrate our city through the power of collective creativity. Cincinnati’s first-ever Splash Dance became an Internet hit, getting over 50,000 views!.... next up.... the Fine Arts Fund is putting together an event to paint a mural on 12th street between Main and Central Parkway... yes.. ON THE STREET, not on a wall near, not on the sidewalk... on the street!!!  Details will be coming soon but for now, put Sunday September 26th on your calendar and check out the event website below.

Littering is wrong but you can make it “write”!

Think people who litter are rude and lazy?  You’re not alone. Keep Cincinnati Beautiful recently launched a new litter prevention campaign to remind residents just how unacceptable and inappropriate it is to litter.

The campaign, “Littering is Wrong Too” takes a unique and light hearted approach to get attention and be remembered. It links littering with wrongdoing, while also defining the personality of the litterer as a socially unaccepted jerk and vilifies the choice they make to litter.

The campaign Website, www.LitteringIsWrongToo.org is packed with ways to get involved. You can even come up with your own campaign ad by “writing your wrong”. Check out the site, submit and vote for your favorite “wrong”, pledge your support and share the campaign with your online networks.

Give Back Cincinnati Calendar Summary:

This week:

Our Give Back Beyond Cincinnati volunteers are in NOLA!!!

(look for the #gbbcNOLA hash tag on twitter to follow them)

We have an amazing line up of events for the remainder of the year and we hope that you will make it to an event.  If you able to join us or you are not, we would like to hear from you none the less.

For the rest of the year, we would like to encourage you to use the hash tag - #GiveBackCincy to let us know your thoughts about Give Back Cincinnati

What does Give Back Cincinnati mean to you?

Why do you attend events?

What is your favorite event?

Do you have an event idea?

Do you have any thoughts on our upcoming events?

Most of all... we want to know why you spend your free time with us.  Why do you choose to volunteer on a Saturday instead of staying in to watch TV?  Why do you work so hard for strangers when it would be easier to simply sleep in?
