If you weren't able to register for this event, never fear... we have two great programs in February that you won't want to miss!

Member Spotlight: An Inside Look at Give Back Beyond Cincinnati

In just a few short months, Give Back Beyond will travel to Guatemala to build homes and hope for those in need. It's a big commitment... but it's also a big thrill. You can learn more by attending an upcoming info session, or by reading this interview with Anthony "AG" Garay -- who has been on five trips with Give Back Beyond, including two international trips. Here, AG offers the inside scoop on what's it's like to go beyond the borders of our city to help those in need. You can read the full interview here.

What personal benefits did you gain from your trips with Give Back Beyond?
These trips offered me the chance to visit places around the world that I might not think to visit on my own as a vacation destination. Plus you're traveling with a fun, like-minded group of peers and helping those in need along the way. The experiences on these trips challenged my values, and offered perspective when I returned home.

Why would you suggest that someone attend the trip to Guatemala?
You will witness some beautiful countryside and mountains, meet very caring and open people, and learn how people (that aren't too terribly far away geographically) can live a completely different lifestyle from what you know here in Cincinnati and in the United States.

How do you finance your travels with Give Back Beyond?
The entire trip group will participate in a group fundraiser.  You can also do your own personal fundraising and ask for donations from family, friends, and co-workers.  Some people that I've traveled with fund-raised enough to cover pretty much their whole trip.

Again, you can
learn more about Give Back Beyond's Guatemala trip during an  upcoming info session, or by reading the interview with AG in its entirety.

A Word About Paint the Town

Right now, it's probably difficult to picture yourself outside, painting in the sun! But believe it or not, Paint the Town 2011 is right around the corner! This year, the event will take place in Bellevue & Dayton, Kentucky on June 11, 2011.  Do you know of a homeowner in those communities who could benefit from having their home painted? Applications are now being accepted for consideration. Please direct interested homeowners to the Paint the Town website at www.paintthetowncincnnati.org for more information.

February Programs: Young at Heart and
Our First Sounding Session

At Give Back Cincinnati, we're proud to offer programs that fit a variety of interests... y'know, a little something for everyone. If you'd like to give back to the greatest generation the world has ever known, then Young at Heart is for you. Spend an afternoon with local senior citizens at St. Paul's in Madisonville, where we'll play casino games and bring smiles to the faces of local senior citizens. The goal is to support local seniors, especially those with few resources.

If you'd prefer to learn more about what makes the urban core tick, and let your voice be heard at the same time, then you'll want to attend our first Sounding Session: Urban Renewal - Four Stories. Our panel will bring together four unique perspectives -- community, politics, academia and developers -- for a lively discussion on our constantly changing Downtown and Over-the-Rhine neighborhoods.
