Give Back Cincinnati would like to offer a huge congratulations to our own Brent Nawroth, who was recently named the 2010 Outstanding Adult Volunteer by the the Ohio Community Service Council. If you know Brent, you know he exemplifies the Give Back Cincinnati program he leads, Paint the Town: He works as the event lead, is getting an award for his work, and yes, he even met his wife at a Paint the Town event.
But even as he accepts an award for their work, Nawroth, an engineer at GE Aviation, gives the credit to his team. He spoke about the recognition with Give Back Cincinnati. Please click here to get the full story!
Every now and then, we like to spotlight one of the organizations that supports Give Back Cincinnati. Today, we're highlighting The Know Theatre, a long-time partner of GBC. The Know is one of Cincinnati's finest arts organizations.
The Know's current performance is Aliens with Extraordinary Skills, playing now through Feb. 26. Aliens tells the story of Nadia and Borat, who come to the US from Moldova on what they believe to be legal visas, only to discover the circus they were meant to work for does not exist. The pair are clowns, or “aliens with extraordinary skills” who quickly discover that the American dream might not be within their reach. The story that follows intertwines lighthearted comedy with the struggle of trying to survive as an illegal immigrant in a big city.
Tickets are just $15 and are available online at www.knowtheatre.com or call the Know Theatre box office at (513) 300-KNOW (5669).
What are you doing on Thursday, March 31? Hopefully, you'll be able to cheer on the Cincinnati Reds at PNC's Rally on the Square, presented by Local 12 and Give Back Cincinnati. We'll celebrate Opening Day with giveaways, food, music, and drinks, plus, we'll watch the parade from Fountain Square!
Please note: this event will serve as a fundraiser for Give Back Cincinnati, so we'd love to have you join us as both a fan and volunteer. We'll need about 80 volunteers to help man security checkpoints and serve beverages to thirsty fans. So mark your calendar now, and keep your eyes peeled for registration information in the coming weeks.
