Young at Heart Party - Vegas Style
When: Saturday, March 19th
Time: 2:00 PM - 8:00 PM
Where: The Lodge in Montgomery
Volunteers: 50
Volunteer Hours: 320
What a memorable evening! 10 members showed up early to begin preparations of our
mini-Vegas. They moved tables and set-up the professional style games like roulette,
bingo, poker and blackjack. Don't forget the chip counting! The volunteers had literally
thousands of chips to sort and count in order to have pre-packaged sets of chips for
the seniors to use. All of the seniors started with 100 "dollars" worth of chips
and certificates for another 200 "dollars".
Once the clock struck five o'clock, it was off to the races or felt tables as it were.
The bingo room was one of the BIG draws. At any given time, there were 40 - 50 people
playing bingo. Special guest callers and double points games really added spice to the
game. Venturing out to the tables, the yells of winners at the roulette table was very
inviting. Of course, the big six wheel and the blackjack tables had their fair share of
action. For those gamblers seeking more competition, the poker tables were right next
door.
At the end of the evening, the seniors traded their chips for raffle tickets. They had
won so many tickets it took twenty minutes to cash everything in. The prizes included
gift certificates to the Lodge and also to surrounding businesses.
This was a very satisfying evening for all involved and the volunteers received high
from everyone.
