Cleaned Up the Town on Saturday, August 21st. We stabilized a hillside in the play
yard at the School for Creative and Performing Arts, and we planted
dozens of new flowers in a nearby park.
We also created three new flower beds and a wood-chip walking path in
a vacant lot on Broadway. The team worked hard to craft a brick patio
and install three new custom-made steel posts designed and painted by a
Pendleton artist and several flower beds in the park at 12th and Broadway.
In the span of one day, we moved 40 yards of topsoil, 25 yards of mulch, 25
yards of wood chips and 2 yards of sand. We couldn’t have completed
the job without Kevin Miles, who drove a Bobcat for six solid hours, helping
to move mulch and dirt.
The best part — There were dozens of community members helping us
revitalize their community, and we all loved every minute of it...
